Experience State Library Victoria's vast collection and heritage spaces like never before, transforming after dark into a mixed-reality encounter with art, sound and cultural memory.
In Memory | Of Being blends the Library’s architecture and archives in a haunting exploration of memory and place. Wearing a mixed-reality headset, you’ll move through the Dome’s upper levels where you will encounter audio and archival images that speak to the role of the library as a fragile and imperfect memory of culture.
Created by Yoyo Munk (the artist-scientist behind the mixed reality work Medusa, and Technical Director of Asia TOPA’s massive hit Kagami) during their eight-week residency at the Library, this digital artwork returns after its sell-out debut at Open House Melbourne, now reimagined for a late-night audience.
Begin your evening in Cowen Gallery, where a bar and lounge set the mood with music and drinks before your booked session in the Dome. Between experiences, explore the Library’s newest exhibition Creative Acts, a journey into the unseen forces that drive artistic creation, featuring visionary Australian artists and collection highlights.
Trace the line between innovation and imagination, between the digital and the divine, in this sensory night of art, sound and memory – only at the Library.
